Title IX is a federal law enacted in 1972 to eliminate sex-based discrimination in educational settings.  At Tulane, Title IX applies to everyone—students, faculty, and staff—and covers all educational programs and activities, including admissions and athletics.
Title IX requires us to prevent and respond to sex discrimination. This includes ensuring access for pregnant and parenting students and addressing sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking.

The Title IX Office collaborates with a wide range of campus partners to ensure compliance, promptly respond to reports, and foster an environment free from sex discrimination.

Tulane’s Title IX Coordinator ensures that we fulfill our obligations under Title IX, including ensuring that members of the Tulane community are aware of their rights under Title IX and that all reports of sexual discrimination receive an appropriate response from the institution.

A person should contact the Title IX Coordinator in any of the following situations:  if you are concerned with how your report of sex discrimination has been handled; if you have concerns about a specific location on campus as being a hostile environment; if you have programming ideas or initiatives around preventing sex discrimination or educating our community about these issues. Those are just a few ideas, but the real answer is: anytime. Anytime you have a concern, question, or want to talk about these issues at Tulane, contact the Title IX Coordinator using one of the methods listed in the above section.
